Ruby Lodge Care Home in Thirsk recently held a successful Mayfair event, welcoming residents, their families, local businesses, and members of the wider community for an afternoon of entertainment, shopping, and connection.
Held in the home’s picturesque gardens, the Mayfair featured a vibrant selection of local stalls, offering everything from handmade crafts to sweet treats. Among the highlights were:
The Gourmet Graze Cart, serving up colourful sweets and fresh fruit. Facepainting and glitter tattoos by Amy, a big hit with younger visitors. Go Indian Spice, offering aromatic cooking spices. White Horse Lavender, who generously gifted a bouquet to the home. CC Vintique, showcasing handmade jewellery. Curious Basket, with a range of handmade clothing and accessories. Claire’s Children’s Books, delighting families with classic and contemporary stories. Pearson’s Ice Cream Van, keeping everyone cool and refreshed.
Live music from local singer Paul Moore brought everyone together, with residents and visitors dancing along in the sunshine. “Paul went down a storm,” said Home Manager Holly Hunton. “We’re thrilled to welcome him back for our upcoming Summer Family Funday.”
The day also featured traditional games and fun activities. Guests enjoyed Hook-a-Duck, using ducks from Ruby Lodge’s own collection, while the tug of war proved popular with children and parents.
One of the most talked-about moments was the sponge throw, where brave members of the care team volunteered as targets to raise money for resident activities and Andy’s Man Club, who were in attendance to raise awareness around men’s mental health.
